LIPASTO unit emissions database

Unit emission database will be removed on August 1, 2022. Alternative sources of information:

The unit emission database covers emission factors for road, rail, waterborne and air transport as well as working machines. Both passenger and freight transport in Finland, and for waterborne and air transport also international traffic to or from Finland, are included. By unit emissions we mean the amount of emissions emitted during operation of vehicles, measured in mass units and allocated to each passenger or tonne of freight transported over one kilometre (g/tonne kilometre, g/passenger kilometre).

Updated content: Average consumption factors for road transport (05/2021)

The unit emission database has been updated thoroughly in early 2017, and the revised unit emission factors were published on this website in July 2017. Also the methodology description and user guide for the database have been updated, and additional guidance on emission calculations compliant to the SFS-EN 16258:2012 standard is also provided.

Renewal of the LIPASTO unit emission database was financed by Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafi (current Finnish Transport and Communications Agency) and Finnish Transport Agency (current Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency), and it has been created by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd.
